Working with & for the Young People @ Risk

Dear

Friends, Colleagues, Development Partners, well-wishers, Ladies and Gentlemen,

The challenge upon us to alleviate the plight of the young people at risk or marginalised by poverty, the scourge of HIV/AIDS, negative cultural practices, ignorance, and war are enormous. Today more than ever before, many children find themselves engaged in hazardous work, sexually abused, brutally murdered in cultural sacrifices, neglected by parents, exposed to domestic violence, and drug  abuse.

Study commissioned by HUYSLINCI has revealed that about 1,000 children are engaged in hazardous work at the landing sites in Wakiso District. the nature of work ranged from loading heavy cargo on trucks, washing boats, fishing vending, drug pedaling, food vending, commercial sex, fishing, etc. the aftermath of this situation is that these children are in appalling healthy, morally depraved, exploited economically and sexually, as well as missing on education opportunities.

This is only a tip of the iceberg of the many situations which cry for intervention.

HUYSLINCI is a relatively small organisation with limited financial resources. We have however, mapped out the requisite intervention programmes to combat the problems faced by the children the fishing communities and their neighborhood. To actualise these programmes we are looking for potential partners.

There is something each of us can do directly or indirectly to combat the problems that facing the children in Wakiso's fishing communities.

Come forward and claim your role. Together we can improve the lives of these young people, and ensure a better tomorrow for them and the society at large.
